Frequently Asked Questions
These are some of the questions I am asked most frequently. If the answer to your question isn't here, please don't hesitate to contact me.
I think I would benefit from counselling - what happens now?
If you are interested in booking some counselling sessions, I suggest we have an initial telephone consultation. This service is offered free of charge. This will help us both decide if I am the right person to help you on your individual journey.
How long are counselling sessions?
Each session is 50 minutes.
Would I have the same time slot every week?
Yes you will. However, we can discuss a more flexible approach if work/family commitments make this difficult for you.
How much is each session?
Sessions cost £40.
Do I have to come to you?
Yes - all sessions will take place at my practice in Wing. However, I do offer online video or telephone counselling if preferred.
How many sessions will I need?
The optimal number of sessions varies from person to person; everyone is different. We can agree a set number of sessions and review it during your journey, or you can choose an open-ended agreement. We can discuss what may be the most appropriate way forward in your first counselling session.
Do you offer a free consultation?
I offer an initial telephone consultation for free, but each counselling session after this costs £40.
How do I pay?
Payment can be made via BACS transfer or cash on the day.
What happens if I miss a session?
Provided you give me 48 hours' notice there is no charge. However, late cancellations will result in a charge for the full session.
Is everything I tell you confidential?
Absolutely, with one exception: if you ever share information with me which leads me to believe you may harm yourself or others, as a certified counselling professional I have a legal obligation to inform the relevant authorities (ie: your doctor, emergency services or the police.) Your welfare, and that of those around you, is of paramount importance to me.
